I ordered a plasma TV for about $5200. Right after placing my order online, I got a confirmation e-mail, which did not outline the specifics of my order, such as total amount, shipping charges, etc. After waiting for 2 days, I finally figured that they may be expecting an authorization letter and I gave them a call. It rang for minutes but no answer. I tried again a few hours later. A woman answered. She started laughing while I was talking to her for some unknown reason. I was distracted and asked what was so funny. She replied "the person next to me" but nothing more. She transferred me to "Jim". Jim tried to sell me "insured shipping" for additional $1199. I said that was well over my budget. He offered to reduce insurance to $800. He said this TV would sell for $8000 elsewhere, I would still be good even if I bought the insurance. Again, I politely refused. I guess he was p****d off so badly, he asked if I was sure I could afford this TV at all. He went on saying: "You want to buy a $5000 TV but refuse insured shipping. We don't want a customer like you sir. You know what, we will cancel your order. Bye". (No, I am not kidding, this is word by word what he said. I have a complete transcript of this conversation if anyone would be interested). He didn't hang up though, but just silently waited for my reaction. Later in the conversation, this happened once more in a very similar fashion. I kept calm and tried to ask questions like why didn't they show this extra insurance cost on their order page, etc. No meaningful answers. He kept saying that I was accusing them of shipping defective items, and didn't want insurance, what was I trying to do, etc. Finally, he said they weren't going to deal with a customer like me and would cancel my order. I was fed up and I said "please cancel this order" and hung up on his face while he was still talking similar nonsense. He was extremely and incredibly rude and sarcastic. It was a horrible experience. I don't think anybody deserves to be humiliated and yelled at like this, especially when he was trying to place an order of $5200. I have no idea what is wrong with this guy.
The bottom line is, DO NOT believe low online prices you see on their web page. They are not real prices, but just baits to drag people into this scam. Also remember, if and when you refuse, they can get pretty nasty. You need a very strong nerve and a healthy heart to even talk to these guys.
Follow up: A few hours later, I got a call from some other guy (Scott) in the same company, asking for an authorization letter. I said I wasn't interested and already canceled this order. (Apparently, Jim couldn't figure out how to expel a very bad customer like me from their computer system). Scott was polite and asked the reason for cancellation. I said "it was Jim's idea and I took it". He sounded very surprised and he wanted to investigate. I said there was no need, because I would never do business with this store. (I was told that they operated 18 online stores and I could still end up in one of their "sister" stores). Nevertheless, I agreed to be put on hold and let him investigate this situation just out of curiosity. Shortly after, he was back and all he said was "OK sir, I canceled your order, bye". This was my true experience. Now, would you buy from this store? You need to decide for yourself.
